The CrossFit Method is to establish a hierarchy of importance for total wellness that builds upon itself.
Nutrition Is the foundation. Good nutrition causes molecular changes that allows for optimum health and wellness
Strength and Conditioning - Builds capacity in each of the three metabolic pathways beginning with aerobic, glycolytic, then phosphogenic.
Gymnastics - Establishes functional capacity for body control and range of motion (push ups, pull ups, dips, etc)
Olympic Weightlifting - Develops the ability to control external objects and produce power
Sport - Applies fitness in a competitive atmosphere with more randomized movements and skill mastery

Steve Richards (with Tyler and Teagan)

I am a firefighter with the City of Mesa Fire Department. For the last six years I have been actively involved in all areas of new recruit and member fitness. I have assisted in physically training all of our new recruits for the last several academies. I have experience in one on one training as well as groups as large as 14 people. I have experience in writing workout programs not only for individuals but for entire recruit academies. In my personal life I have always been involved in sports, including football, basketball, soccer, mountain biking, and triathalons. I consider fitness, and overall wellness, a very important part of my life. Not only do I hold several personal training, and health and fitness certifications but I also spend a great amount of time self-studying to further my education.I have been doing Crossfit for almost 2 years and I am currently Crossfit level two certified, and POSE running technique level one certified. I have been married for 5 years and have a son and daughter.
Jason Burkhart
I have been working for the Mesa Fire Department for 5 years and currently hold the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. I started the Crossfit program about 1 1/2 yrs. ago and have seen great strides in strength and endurance. As a natural skeptic I was hesitant to believe that this program was for me. But after some research and personal evaluation I decided to give it a try. Without writing a disertation, Crossfit offers functional movements that focuses on endurance, stamina, strength, power, speed, flexability, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. Traditional workouts can offer strength by using isolated muscle groups but are very limited in practical application. Crossfit exercises are not new but are presented in a new format that shows results. My experience comes from results. Crossfit shows results.Output requires work, Crossfit requires output, Crossfit is work. Jason is a Crossfit level one trainer.
